Environmentalists Love Us
Elizabeth May, Executive Director of Sierra Club of Canada, used to be a senior policy advisor to Tom McMillan, Environment Minister in Brian Mulroney’s government. She gave an impassioned address showing great emotion at Corporate Knights’ gala awarding Brian Mulroney the “Greenest Prime Minister” accolade.

you're sadly mistaken. while may honoured mulroney for his success dealing with acid rain she has stronlgy criticized harper's govt for their lack of vision. it's simple, they've listed their top 5 priorities and the environment isn't one of them.
listen to the mp3.
I guess it depends on your definition of love.
Environmentalists know that all parties are capable of positive environmental policies. They also know that on the whole Conservatives, Liberals and NDP have very little to be proud of and a whole lot to be ashamed of when it comes to the environment. Elizabeth May and the Sierra Club did have some positive things to say about the environmental positions of the Conservative Party during the last election. However, they had many many more negative things to say (More about that below).
The Mulroney, Clark and Nixon governments have done a decent job in certain areas.
Preston Manning has also turned into a very strong proponent of environmental policy over the last couple years. Many of the leading members of the Green Party are former Progressive Conservatives who - including current leader Jim Harris and (possible future leader) Elizabeth May - find Harper and friends to be very distasteful.
As for Elizabeth May (Who has announced that she is stepping down as Executive Director of Sierra Club of Canada in June and may run for GPC leadership in August. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060414/green_party_060414/20060414?hub=Canada
assuming that she runs, she will have my support and I have no doubt that under her leadership the GPC will do much better. May, who used to work for former PC Environment Minister Tom McMillan resigned after exposing the government's plan to grant illegal permits for the Rafferty and Alameda Dams in Saskatchewan). I guess you can listen to how much she loves Conservatives then.
It is not hard to find what she thinks of Stephen Harper and the CURRENT Conservatives:
There are tons of examples. Here is one: Harper’s position on Kyoto: a tragedy for the planet

In the 2006 election May and the Sierra Club rated the Parties (out of 103):
Green Party - 97
NDP -91
Liberals - 53
Conservatives - 31

I was planning posting a breakdown of the Conservative score, but decided against it as it would be lengthy, but I encourage everyone to read it. They give credit where credit is due.
